Husband and wife and visit IKEA again as he tries to figure out why.

Here we have a close look into a mysterious phenomena. Somehow, without reason, couples are lured into the labyrinth of IKEA. The sheer amount of options available could be the main reason that people come back, but without knowing exactly why, many lose an entire day and leave with nothing. One brave pioneer of discovery documented his travels, searching for the elusive reason that he and his wife entered the store as they have done so many times before.

Silent Resolve

Donning sunglasses to hide the twitch of nerves and uncertainty in his eyes, this determined soul aims to seek out the reason why, yet again, he and his partner have visited IKEA. Their apartment is fully furnished, yet back they go. Soon they will discover why the pull of home furnishings has drawn them through the doors.

Out to Lunch

A visit would not be complete without indulging in their fantastic meals. While lunch is not the entire reason, it does, however, appear to be part of it! After all, before one embarks upon any journey, even a trip of discovery, it is better to do so on a full stomach!

A Weight on the Mind

With lunch, honestly, just a distraction from purpose, comes folly! This time around a blob of ketchup will taint the remainder of the day. It could be worse, but perhaps it would be better to use the stain as a reminder to stay on track.

Stuck at a Crossroad

Bellies full and eager to continue their search for the purpose of another visit, another distraction rears its head. There is utterly no instruction to be found as to where to place the handy food mobility unit. Confusion ensues time ticks away, leaving the cart standing at the most convenient location.

Storage Units!

That’s it! Storage units! However, on second thought, more space to store things means more clutter. Perhaps they could be handy to help keep the kids organized? No children! With a disdain for amassing needless storage space, the two set on. They aren’t there for containers!

Candles Come from IKEA

Candles come from IKEA, well according to traditional belief. One thing that everyone seems always to seek more of is candles! Remembering that they hadn’t yet burned even a fraction of their previous supplies, this couple adheres to their better judgment and leaves the candles for a day when they are needed.

Kitchen Storage?

Our intrepid discoverer hits an impasse. She feels that this beautiful kitchen storage accessory is a gem and a must-buy, he doesn’t agree. Agreeing to disagree, and adding more unresolved weight to the journey, he continues to seek their purpose and she storms on in a mood.

Mirrors Leave an Impression

As if being led by a lingering memory of a need, both parties seem to think that a mirror may be necessary. As is the case for most people; mirrors appear always to have an alluring nature. Realizing this, and after being unable to decide on a particular one, our persevering pair presses on. The faint notion that they need something will not go away!

Illusion Overcome

After the web of illusion cast from the mirrors, there is little which can pose a distraction now. Even beautiful vertical storage units are nothing more than caught in a passing gaze. However there are few females which can resist at least looking at anything which adds space to the home, and our heroine allowed herself a moment to pause.

Trial II – Stuffed Toys

As the Isle of stuffed toys approached, the fervor and purpose of both husband and wife were firmly tested. Despite a real life reaction to rats that would set in motion a chain-reaction of chaos, shrieks, and dispersion, the stuffed rats grab the immediate adoration of the fairer sex in our story. Losing time and focus, the two are pulled into the deluge of this powerful but obscure toy section.

The Trial Continues – More Stuffing

Are they part of Swedish heritage and culture? Who knows, but IKEA stocks the widest collection of stuffed rats around. The inanimate rodents may be nothing but toys alone, but en-masse on the shelves, they are a force of distraction which almost derailed this adventure. Deciding rats are too odd to be an object of purpose for this visit; the couple continues closer to their goal.

We Are Not Crows

“Our measuring spoons work, they may not have the shine or shimmer of these, but they work” rings in the minds of both adventurers. The shininess of these beautiful spoons may pose a distraction to an opportunistic crow, but will not deter our heroes. A diversion that obvious cannot be their reason for this visit.

A Nexus of Napkins

Napkins are a particularly beckoning point of interest. They are diverse enough to be attached to any purpose, latching their metaphorical teeth into almost every idea filling the heads of our adventurers. At first, both husband and wife are near convinced that they need a series of napkins, however, given the random nature of the probable future events that they need them for, this notion is soon discovered to be a lie. Not needing napkins, on they go.

Driven by Intuition

Female intuition fills the moment, inspiring this husband to be led by his devoted wife. Convinced that she is leading him to the meaning of this visit, he follows her eagerly. Scurrying along, he cannot quite fathom what it is that she has realized and is leading him to, but trustingly he follows.

Framed

Passing by this frame, both adventurers are drawn to its presence,  for different reasons. The fairer sex sees the beauty of the frame, and her mate raises his opinion of the beauty of the picture. After a heated argument, it soon becomes apparent that this frame, and the image, has no place in their home.

Healing Plants

Crossing to the green zone, the healing provided by the large plant selection wash away the worries of previous issues. Clarity begins to fill, and our two seekers explore the plant life that may be at the heart of their quest. However, with the two living in a basement, they do have to pick carefully.

Mysteries Abound

Their search divulges some rather interesting possibilities, yet with no information on the label and no help to be found, many options are overlooked. Lots of time passes without being noticed. Lost in a sea of greenery within the urban paradise, time ticks on with our pair unaware.

“We’ve Found It!” she says…

Chinese banyan convince our heroine that they are the prime purpose of this visit. It didn’t take long for eyes to roll and silent sarcasm to set in after she was reminded that Ficus microcarpa grow quite aggressively. Fooled again, but just half the party this time, both continue their search for the significance of this visit.

A Candid Journey Busted

A twist in the tale develops, and it seems that only one of our adventurers were aware of the quest at hand was the bored but willing husband. In a brilliant act of segmented photography, our hero has captured a frame-by-frame breakdown of this, a typical trip without a definite goal, purpose or purchase considered. Her reaction says it all. She can’t help be slightly amused with just a hint of peeved peeking through.

Ideas and Idle Shopping

After a full day of purpose-seeking in tunnel-vision, our hero is about to stumble upon the actual meaning of the day. The only item that makes it to the till are a microwave cover, a beautiful sugar bowl and a draw divider. Having overcome the temptation of many mirrors, stuffed toys and a precocious picture or frame and picture, their journey is near complete. As one adventure ends, another begins. “I want ice-cream” is a desire which any good husband will fulfill.

The Purpose of this Trip? Togetherness!
